Why convert EDI to ICO?
An EDI file holds an electronic data interchange message, such as an ANSI X12 or UN/EDIFACT purchase order, invoice or shipping notice exchanged between trading partners. The ICO shows an “EDI document” heading followed by the complete interchange exactly as written, set in a monospaced font with every segment and element intact.
ICO output is a 256 × 256 pixel Windows icon: the image is scaled to fit with its proportions kept, and the surrounding space is transparent.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert EDI to ICO?
Drop your EDI file above and press Convert. Our servers check the file for an X12 or EDIFACT envelope, lay out its text as a document, export it to a PDF and render each page as an image. The result is saved as a 256 × 256 ICO icon, ready to download.
Are the separators in a EDI visible in the ICO?
Yes. The interchange appears character for character, so segment tags, element separators and terminators such as * and ~ are all shown in a monospaced font.
Which EDI standards can a EDI to ICO conversion read?
ANSI X12 interchanges, which open with an ISA segment, and UN/EDIFACT interchanges, which open with UNB, are both recognised and rendered.
Which part of the EDI becomes the ICO icon?
The first page of the rendered content is used for the icon, fitted inside the 256 × 256 square with its proportions kept.
What size is the ICO made from a EDI file?
The icon is 256 × 256 pixels, the largest standard Windows icon size. The image is fitted inside the square with its proportions kept and a transparent surround, stored as a PNG-compressed icon.
Is my .edi file kept private?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, converted on our servers and deleted automatically within 24 hours. We never read, share or keep your files, and no account is needed.
