Why convert WBK to ICO?
A WBK file is the backup copy Microsoft Word saves when “Always create backup copy” is switched on, holding the previous saved version of a document. The ICO shows each page of the backed-up document with its text, styles, tables and pictures, laid out on the page size it was saved with.
ICO output is a 256 × 256 pixel Windows icon: the image is scaled to fit with its proportions kept, and the surrounding space is transparent.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert WBK to ICO?
Drop your WBK file above and press Convert. Our servers open the backup as a Word document in LibreOffice, export its pages to a PDF and render each page as an image. The result is saved as a 256 × 256 ICO icon, ready to download.
Which version of the document does a WBK show in the ICO?
A WBK holds the version of the document from before its most recent save, so the ICO shows the document exactly as it stood at that point.
Is a WBK read as a Word document for the ICO?
Yes. The backup is opened as a Word .doc file by LibreOffice, which lays out its text, styles, tables and pictures before each page is rendered as a ICO.
Which part of the WBK becomes the ICO icon?
The first page of the rendered content is used for the icon, fitted inside the 256 × 256 square with its proportions kept.
What size is the ICO made from a WBK file?
The icon is 256 × 256 pixels, the largest standard Windows icon size. The image is fitted inside the square with its proportions kept and a transparent surround, stored as a PNG-compressed icon.
Is my .wbk file kept private?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, converted on our servers and deleted automatically within 24 hours. We never read, share or keep your files, and no account is needed.
