Frequently Asked Questions
Why convert PNG to JPG?
JPG is accepted by nearly every website, form, email service, photo application, and device. It is particularly useful for photographs and other images where a compact, widely compatible file is helpful.
What happens to transparent areas in my PNG?
JPG does not support transparency. Crest Convert fills transparent and semi-transparent pixels with your selected background colour. White is selected by default, and you can choose any other colour before converting.
What JPG quality should I choose?
The default setting is a good choice for most images. Choose a higher value when fine detail matters, or a lower value when a smaller download is more useful. The completed file size is shown after conversion.
Will JPG usually be smaller than PNG?
For photographs and detailed images, usually. Screenshots, logos, text, and graphics with flat colours can behave differently, so the result depends on the image and selected JPG quality.
Can I resize the JPG while converting?
Yes. Keep the original dimensions, choose 75%, 50%, or 25%, or enter a custom percentage from 10% to 100%. The width and height change together so the image keeps its proportions.
Does the JPG keep PNG metadata?
No. The converted JPG contains the visible image and your chosen background colour, but does not copy PNG text, comments, colour-profile metadata, or other embedded metadata into the output file.
Can I convert several PNG files at once?
Yes. Add multiple PNG files, apply the same settings, and convert them together. Download each JPG separately or download every completed image in one ZIP.
Are my PNG images uploaded?
No. PNG to JPG conversion runs locally in your browser. Your images are not uploaded to Crest Convert or stored on our servers.
How can I turn the JPG back into a PNG?
Use JPG to PNG when a design tool, presentation, website, or upload form specifically requires PNG. Converting back will not recreate transparency that was replaced during JPG conversion.
