Why convert TMD to HEIC?
A TMD file is a document from TextMaker, the word processor in SoftMaker Office and SoftMaker FreeOffice. The HEIC shows each page of the TextMaker document with its text, formatting, tables and images, laid out by LibreOffice.
HEIC uses High Efficiency Image Coding, the format iPhones and iPads save photos in, so the image is compact while staying sharp.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert TMD to HEIC?
Drop your TMD file above and press Convert. Our servers open the TextMaker document in LibreOffice, export its pages to a PDF and render each page as an image. The result is saved as a HEIC image, ready to download.
Which program creates the TMD files that become a HEIC?
TMD is the native format of TextMaker, the word processor in SoftMaker Office and FreeOffice. The document is opened in LibreOffice and each laid-out page becomes a HEIC.
Is the page layout of a TMD kept in the HEIC?
Yes. The pages are rendered from the layout LibreOffice builds from the document, including its page size, margins and text formatting.
What happens when a TMD file fills several HEIC pages?
Each page is rendered at 144 dpi and saved as its own HEIC image, named page-1, page-2 and so on, and they download together as one ZIP. A single page downloads as one HEIC file.
How compact is the HEIC made from a TMD file?
HEIC uses High Efficiency Image Coding, which typically needs about half the space of a JPG of similar quality, so even detailed pages stay small.
Is my .tmd file kept private?
