Why convert MSG to GIF?
Outlook saves a single email as an MSG file when you drag a message out of the mailbox or choose Save As. The image shows the message's From, To, Cc, Subject and Date in a header table, the body with its formatting, and the names and types of any attachments.
GIF stores the image with an optimised palette of up to 256 colours, which suits text, diagrams and flat colour.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert MSG to GIF?
Drop your MSG file above and press Convert. Our servers convert the Outlook message to a standard email, lay out its headers and body, and render the page. The result is saved as a GIF image, ready to download.
Do I need Outlook to turn an MSG file into GIF?
No. The MSG file is read on our servers and turned into a standard email first, so the GIF is produced without Outlook installed.
In which time zone is the date shown in a GIF made from an MSG file?
The Date row shows the sent time in UTC, written in the international ISO format (for example 2024-05-01T09:30:00.000Z), so it reads the same wherever the message came from.
What happens when a MSG file fills several GIF pages?
Each page is rendered at 144 dpi and saved as its own GIF image, named page-1, page-2 and so on, and they download together as one ZIP. A single page downloads as one GIF file.
How are colours handled in the MSG to GIF image?
GIF uses a palette of up to 256 colours. The converter builds an optimised palette from the rendered image, which keeps text, lines and solid colours clean.
Is my .msg file kept private?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, converted on our servers and deleted automatically within 24 hours. We never read, share or keep your files, and no account is needed.
