Why convert GCODE to TIFF?
A GCODE file holds G-code, the plain-text instruction language that CNC mills, routers, laser cutters and 3D printers follow, generated by CAM and slicer software. The XY toolpath is plotted as seen from above: cutting and extrusion moves (G1) appear in teal and rapid travel moves (G0) in light grey, on a white background with a small margin.
TIFF is a long-established image format for archiving, scanning and print workflows, and it holds the rendered page at full resolution.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert GCODE to TIFF?
Drop your GCODE file above and press Convert. Our servers trace every G0 and G1 move in the file, draw the toolpath as a vector image with its longest side at 2400 pixels, then encode it in the format you chose. The result is saved as a TIFF image, ready to download.
How are rapid and feed moves told apart in the TIFF from a GCODE file?
Feed moves (G1), where the tool cuts or the nozzle extrudes, are drawn in teal. Rapid positioning moves (G0) are drawn in light grey, so travel paths stand apart from the working path.
Does the GCODE to TIFF converter follow inch units and relative positioning?
Yes. G20 inch and G21 millimetre modes are applied as the file switches between them, and G90 absolute and G91 relative positioning are followed move by move. Comments in brackets or after a semicolon are skipped.
How big is the TIFF image from a GCODE file?
The toolpath drawing is scaled so its longest side is 2,400 pixels, keeping the part's proportions.
Is the TIFF from a GCODE file a single image?
Each rendered page is saved as its own standard TIFF image at full resolution. When there are several pages you receive one TIFF per page in a ZIP, numbered in order.
Is my .gcode file kept private?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, converted on our servers and deleted automatically within 24 hours. We never read, share or keep your files, and no account is needed.
