Why convert DBX to ICO?
Outlook Express, the mail program built into Windows 98, 2000 and XP, stored each mail folder as a DBX file. The image shows every message from the folder, each with a header table of From, To, Cc, Subject and Date, its body text and a list of any attachments.
ICO output is a 256 × 256 pixel Windows icon: the image is scaled to fit with its proportions kept, and the surrounding space is transparent.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert DBX to ICO?
Drop your DBX file above and press Convert. Our servers extract the messages from the Outlook Express folder, lay out each one and render the pages. The result is saved as a 256 × 256 ICO icon, ready to download.
Can old Outlook Express DBX folders still be turned into ICO?
Yes. The converter extracts every message stored in the DBX folder file and lays them out with their headers and bodies.
Does each message from a DBX file keep its own header in the ICO?
Yes. Every message starts with its own table of From, To, Cc, Subject and Date, followed by the body and any attachment names.
Which part of the DBX becomes the ICO icon?
The first page of the rendered content is used for the icon, fitted inside the 256 × 256 square with its proportions kept.
What size is the ICO made from a DBX file?
The icon is 256 × 256 pixels, the largest standard Windows icon size. The image is fitted inside the square with its proportions kept and a transparent surround, stored as a PNG-compressed icon.
Is my .dbx file kept private?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, converted on our servers and deleted automatically within 24 hours. We never read, share or keep your files, and no account is needed.
